My updated skincare routine

I can gladly say my skin is in the best condition it has ever been. I have always had normal to oily skin, prone to breakouts. It took me ages to try and find a combination of products that suit my skin type but now, I think I finally have it.

So here it goes (warning, it is a lot!)

Morning Routine:

1) Image Skincare the Max Stem Cell Facial Cleanser

This is a gentle cleanser that suits all skin types. It works by balancing and nourishing the skin, while protecting it from the environment. I use this to keep my skin balanced, the cleanser I use by night is active and slightly drying, so to prevent my skin becoming too dry I won’t use it twice a day.

It is a gel type consistency and I use it with warm water and my cleanse off mitt. €34.00

2) Biofresh Skincare Acne Out Active Lotion

This contains antibacterial and active ingredients that help prevent bacterial infections in the skin whilst regulating oiliness and preventing spots and blackheads. I apply this with cotton wool to my t-zone. I do find this slightly drying so I don’t apply it to my cheeks as they are not oily. €26.00

3) Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair

This is a rich hydrating eye cream for dehydrated to dry eyes. It helps combat premature signs of aging and prevents any further damage. Any time I do a skin consultation with girls my age or a few years older and I recommend and eye cream, they look at me like I’m crazy because they don’t have any lines around their eye. The key is to prevent them, once they are there an eye cream won’t make them disappear. Start young people!!

I dab 3 dots just above each of my cheek bones and then pat it in, I never bring it up to the lash line as it will irritate the eyes, it spreads up over time by itself. €49.95

4) Image Skincare Iluma Intense Lightening Serum

This is a lightweight, oil-free serum. It brightens the skin, treating skin discolouration and redness. It also helps calm the skin and reduce any inflammation. This serum won’t aggrivate my skin as it is oil free. Serums go right down to the bottom layers of the skin and treat them so that when they come up to the surface they are nourished and bright.

I apply around a 2 cent coin size to my whole face and spread it down my neck. €49.00

5) Image Skincare Prevention + Matte Moisturiser SPF 32

This is my day time moisturiser. I wouldn’t say I love it, I don’t really like the feeling of any moisturisers on my skin but I make myself wear it. This is oil free so it won’t aggrivate my skin. It contains anti-oxidants that help prevent damage caused by the environment. It has SPF 32 that protects against UVA and UVB rays.

What are UVA and UVB rays?

UVA rays go deeper into the skin then UVB rays and they cause aging and wrinkles. UVA rays are everywhere, they come from the sun, lights, phones, laptops etc. This is why you need to wear SPF everyday, if you aren’t, your skin is ageing while you are reading this.

UVB rays are the rays that come from the sun and cause a burning reaction on the skin.

This moisturiser comes in 4 different varieties for all different skin types and needs. €44.50

Night Routine

1) Yon-Ka Paris Eau Micellaire

This is a micellar water that basically removes everything! It’s amazing. It doesn’t irritate the eyes and it is suibtable for sensitive skin. I apply it cotton wool to remove my makeup. €30.50

2) Image Skincare Clear Cell Salicylic Gel Cleanser

As you can tell by the name this is a gel cleanser that contains salicylic acid. Salicylic acid encourages the exfoliation of dead skin cells, it goes down into the pores and dries out any breakouts and it helps combat excess oil. Anything with salicylic acid is amazing for spots and blackheads. I wouldn’t use this morning and night as I feel it would be too drying for my skin.

Like my morning cleanser I apply it to my face damp and then wash it away with warm water and my cleanse off mitt. €35.50

3) Biofresh Skincare Acne Out Active Lotion – see details above

4) Dermalogica Medibac Overnight Clearing Gel

This product is amazing on spots as a target treatment. This also contains salicylic acid, it helps get rid of excess oils on the skin, it eliminates bacteria that can cause congestion in the skin and it completley dries out any spots. I never apply this to my entire face, I only dab a tiny bit on it where I feel I need it. €54.80

5)  Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair – see above

6) Image Skincare Iluma Intense Lightening Serum – see above

7) Yon-Ka Paris Creme PG

This moisturiser is mattifying on the skin. It works on balancing the skins oil production and tightening pores. It also smells amazing. €41.50

Twice a week

Image Skincare Vital C Hydrating Enzyme masque and Ageless Total Resurfacing Masque

Vital C Hydrating Enzyme Masque – This is a mask full of nourishing ingredients that hydrate the skin but it also contains enzymes to help get rid of dead skin cells. €41.00

Ageless Total Resurfacing Masque – This mask contains glycolic acid that resurfaces and brightens the skin. If you get those small lumps under the skin this mask is amazing. However I would not recommend this mask to anyone very sensitive. €40.50

I love the two of these mixed together, when I first started using them I only applied the mixture for about 5-10 minutes, I have built up over time to now leaving them on for around 20-25 minutes. My skin feels like I have had a facial after these two.

That’s it, my full skincare routine. A lot of people will probably read this and think I am mad but after struggling with my skin for so long I am delighted to have a plan that works.

Thanks for reading,
